What’s Inside My Camera Bag & Why It All Matters
People always ask me what’s inside my camera bag, and honestly… it’s a little bit of everything 😂 But every single thing I carry has a purpose, especially when I’m photographing weddings, couples, portraits, and all the fast-moving moments in between.
As a photographer, being prepared is EVERYTHING. I never want to miss a moment because OOPS I forgot a battery, ran out of storage, or didn’t have the right lens on me. So here’s a little look into what I carry with me to every session and wedding day and why it matters so much.
My Camera Bodies
Nikon Z6 II
My Nikon Z6 II is my baby! I absolutely love shooting with this camera. It’s fast, sharp, amazing in low light, and just works beautifully for the way I shoot. Whether I’m capturing portraits, wedding receptions, or emotional candid moments, this camera handles it all so well.
Two Nikon D750 Cameras
I also carry two Nikon D750 bodies with me at all times. First of all ...backups are SO important as a photographer. Things happen, and I never want to be unprepared on a wedding day or during a session.
Second, having two cameras ready to go saves me so much time. I can keep different lenses on each camera and switch instantly without missing moments.
The Lenses I Always Have With Me
Every lens gives a completely different look, and I genuinely use all of them for different reasons.
85mm Prime Lens
If you know me, you know I LOVE my 85mm lens. The background blur, the sharpness, the way it captures emotion… obsessed. This is one of my favorite lenses for portraits and those emotional close-up moments.
24–70mm Lens
This lens is basically my all-around workhorse. It’s versatile and perfect when I need to move quickly throughout a wedding day or session. I can go from wide shots to closer moments without changing lenses constantly.
70–200mm Lens
This lens is a game changer during ceremonies and candid moments. It lets me capture emotion from a distance without interrupting what’s happening naturally. Plus the DREAMY background? SO good.
35mm Prime Lens
I love using my 35mm for storytelling shots. It captures more of the environment and gives photos that stepping back, in-the-moment feeling. It’s perfect for receptions, getting-ready moments, and fun candid shots.
50mm Prime Lens
The 50mm is just a classic. Super clean, natural looking images and amazing in low light. It’s one of those lenses that can do a little bit of everything.
Lighting Gear
Two V100N Flashes
Lighting is HUGE in photography, especially during receptions or darker indoor spaces. I always carry two V100N flashes with me because I never want to rely on just one.
Also… backups make me feel at peace 😂
My Dual Camera Strap
My dual camera strap honestly saves me during wedding days. Carrying two cameras at once helps me move faster and switch between focal lengths instantly without digging through my bag every five seconds. Efficiency is everything when moments are happening fast.
SD Cards: The Real MVPs
I carry over 20 SD cards total ranging from:
* 16GB
* 32GB
* 128GB
* 256GB
Honestly, you can NEVER have too many memory cards as a photographer.
I like having multiple cards because:
* It keeps me organized
* I can separate weddings/sessions easily
* It adds backup protection
* I never have to stress about running out of storage
These tiny little cards are literally holding people’s memories, so they matter way more than people think.
# Batteries, Batteries… and More Batteries 😂
Belt Bag Setup
My belt bag carries:
* 8 camera batteries
* 5 flash batteries
* My SD card holder
* Extra SD cards
I keep all of this super accessible because wedding days move FAST and I don’t have time to dig through bags when batteries die.
Extra Backup Battery Bag
And because apparently I believe there’s no such thing as too many backups, I also carry another bag with 6 extra batteries 😂
Dead batteries are not going to ruin a session on my watch.
Why All of This Matters
At the end of the day, my camera bag isn’t just full of gear. It’s full of preparation, backup plans, creativity, and tools that help me tell people’s stories the best way possible.
Photography is about capturing moments you can’t recreate. The laughs, the tears, the in-between moments they happen once.
So yes, my bag may weigh a million pounds 😂 but every single thing inside helps me show up fully prepared for my clients and ready for whatever the day brings.
