Some couples leave a lasting impression — not just in front of the camera, but in life. Katie & Hunter are one of those rare and beautiful pairs. From their engagement photos to their wedding day, and now this sweet season of anticipation, I’ve had the privilege of capturing their love through it all. And documenting their maternity session was the perfect next chapter in their story — full of sunshine, laughter, and so much love.
We met at Asylum Lake Nature Preserve, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun was shining down in that golden, dreamy way photographers cross their fingers for. The breeze was soft, the wildflowers in full bloom, and the tall grass swayed gently around us. There was a sense of peace and excitement in the air — like the world itself was celebrating with them.
Katie & Hunter came ready for everything — two outfit changes gave us the best of both worlds: soft and romantic, then fun and relaxed. Katie looked absolutely radiant in her flowy dress, glowing with happiness and love as she cradled her baby bump. There was a quiet strength in her eyes, the kind you often see in mamas-to-be — a mix of deep love and fierce anticipation.
One of my favorite moments from the session was lighthearted and perfectly them. Katie stood gracefully, hands around her belly, beaming down at the little girl growing inside her. A few steps behind — and slightly off to the side — was Hunter, proudly holding his own belly with the most hilarious expression on his face. He wasn’t trying to steal the spotlight, just adding that signature humor that makes their relationship so fun and grounded. It was candid, genuine, and one of those images that will make them laugh for years to come.
That’s who they are — full of humor, warmth, and an unshakable bond. Every glance, every shared smile, every gentle touch said it all: they’re not just expecting a baby, they’re stepping into this next chapter with hearts wide open.
And just when the moment couldn’t get more magical, a monarch butterfly fluttered right into one of the shots — the kind of happy accident you can’t plan for, but feel so lucky to witness. It hovered just long enough to photobomb in the most beautiful way, like nature giving its blessing to this new little life.
Back at home, they’re more than ready. The nursery is fully decorated, cozy and sweet with thoughtful touches — family photos already hanging, the crib perfectly assembled, and a quiet calm settling over everything. It’s all set for their baby girl, who is already so deeply loved.
